Sports Neuropsychology

Showcase Dr. Hale’s achievement and natural methods.

At 61, Dr. Hale has attained elite level weightlifting goals. He utilizes 100% natural methods to obtain outstanding results (videos included here). He has never used prohormones, testosterone, human growth hormone (HGH), SARMs, peptides, steroids, or other synthetic chemicals to achieve strength, balance, and physical & emotional perseverance. His goal is not only athletic excellence, however, but elite level health, the optimization of the amazing human body given to each person as a gift from God.

Young athletes must be educated about the personality changes and aggression, relational and vocational dysfunction, biological impairments, disabilities, mental illnesses, and shortened life spans that often result from using performance enhancing drugs. See WADA guidelines

Although Dr. Hale has worked with hundreds of children and adults with traumatic brain injuries (TBI), including post concussive syndrome related to sports injuries, he is increasingly dedicated to helping children and adolescents achieve excellence in physical conditioning, athletics, and body image.

Sports neuropsychology is unique in that it integrates cognitive assessment with experiential markers and daily functioning, as well as the development of optimal practice protocols and skills, based on ever-emerging principles of the brain and nervous system.

Dr. Hale understands the psychological and neurocognitive aspects of sports aspirations and goals, emotional resilience, self-concept, executive functioning, injury setbacks, negative self-attributions, coping with failure & poor performance, self-defeating cognitive patterns, eliciting performance enhancing flow states, reprogramming injury-based avoidant cognitive patterns, mental toughness, and synchronizing the mind and body in the here and now.

He was a wrestler and weightlifter in high school, as well as a member of the “300 Club.”  Carl is no stranger to concussions and sports related injuries. He had a childhood history of being hospitalized for two concussions, including one baseball-related injury.  He has also experienced several sports related injuries as an adult, including significant left-rotator cuff and right elbow injuries.  He also has a lifelong history of hearing impairment.

Carl empathizes with and understands the physical pain, limited range of motion, delayed dreams and goals, regression in physical strength and skills, and emotional, cognitive, & motivational challenges that result from serious injuries in both young and elder athletes.

Dr. Hale believes that sports and movement are joyful, life-giving expressions of being made in the image of our Creator.  Athletics extend far beyond achievement and winning.  Competitive and non-competitive sports are character building forms of discipline, camaraderie, goal attainment, and self-identification, especially for children, adolescents, and young adults.  Moreover, research indicates that participation in sports enhances academic outcomes in high school and college students.

Unlike some people today, Dr. Hale does not believe that traditional masculine roles are “toxic” or misogynistic.  On the contrary, boys and young men should be taught and encouraged to fulfill their God-given masculine roles in society.

Sadly, American culture has moved toward feminizing and emasculating male roles, strengths, and contributions, which has lifelong adverse consequences for men of all ages. Sublimated aggression in young males equips them for adult responsibilities in their communities that complement natural inclinations and abilities. Moreover, sports are a universal and historically proven rite of passage for boys and young men in nearly every culture on earth.
